We are always searching for more volunteers. We build trusting relationships with those we serve, and serve with, by consistently meeting and exceeding, our patient’s and community’s needs and expectations. × Hybrid EMT Class – Starts Sept. 16 2019 Registration Deadline Sept. 1 2019 Click here for more information Over 60 Dedicated Volunteers Mount Laurel Emergency Medical Services has long been a provider of emergency medical services to the community of Mount Laurel. Volunteers – We are comprised primarily of over 60 volunteer members serving the township during weeknights, weekends and special events, as well as paid career staff who serve during weekdays. Certified Members – Our members include State and Nationally Certified emergency medical technicians and valuable trainees. Setting The Bar – We’re proud to be the first EMS service in Burlington County to have special bariatric equipment that allows us to provide emergency response for bariatric patients. In 2018, we responded to 97 bariatric calls, 43 of which were mutual aid to towns in Burlington and Camden counties. FAQ WHAT IS AN EMT? EMT stands for Emergency Medical Technician . To become an EMT you must attend an EMT course that includes classroom/online and practical skills training. EMTs take a written and practical exam that has been approved by the State of New Jersey Office of Emergency Medical Services. After certification, the EMT is continually updating their skills through additional training sessions. CAN ANYONE BECOME AN EMT? The standards that are set for starting the EMT class include a minimum age of sixteen, CPR certification at the professional rescuer level, and the ability to perform the duties with which emergency medical technicians come in contact. WHAT IS CPR? CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. We offer CPR classes for the Mount Laurel community, you can learn more on our Community Classes page . HOW I CAN LEARN CPR? CPR is taught by certified instructors that work in conjunction with either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross . Classes are offered at different skill levels. To find out about registering for a CPR course please visit our Training page. HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF MOUNT LAUREL EMS? Becoming a member is easy, even if you don’t live in Mount Laurel! Few emergency squads extend membership to those outside of their community, however MLEMS believes that the willingness to help others extends far beyond township lines.
